The Talon Digest was a email list that was created in the early 1990's (our digest archive shows August of 1990 to be the first month of the digest. This may or may not be accurate) by Todd Day. As most email lists go, the Talon Digest was a daily email that people got around lunchtime, and was religously read by people who were interested in their DSM's. In addition to reading, anyone who signed up to receive the Talon Digest could also opt to post to the list, and many people did.
The list was very popular in the last 1990's but seemed to die at the beginning of the new millenium for various reasons. Todd, the Owner/Operator of dsm.org had some site issues with dsm.org, and at one point lost the data associated with the list, and the website, dsm.org and had to rewrite a bunch of the code that updated and maintained the site. I imagine the moderation of the list also became too cumbersome and time consuming for him. In addition to that, Chrysler had killed the Eagle name, and Mitsubishi was coming out with a new generation Eclipse, which many DSM'ers do not consider to be a DSM (because it lacks the 2.0 liter, four cylinder spirit that all the other DSM's have.) In addition to all that, the way the Internet commonly worked had changed. Many people started using Internet based messageboards, and to get instant gratification, used boards instead of email digest. "Club DSM" did not adapt, and so died. Chances are though, you can still see the sad shell that remains over on clubdsm.com
